How We Grow Certified Organic Cannabis on Salt Spring Island, BC
GOOD BUDS is a family-run, Health Canada-licensed cannabis farm on Salt Spring Island, BC, founded in 2017 by brothers Tyler and Alex Rumi. The farm is FVOPA Certified Organic for both its sun-grown fields and its indoor rooms, and every plant grows in living soil that is rebuilt and reused rather than replaced.
Our flower, pre-rolls and vapes are sold through licensed retailers in BC, Alberta and Ontario.
Two ways we grow
Gluerangutan and Timewarp grow outside, in the ground, under the sun. No grow lights, no climate control. GOOD BUDS was Canada's first licensed outdoor cannabis cultivator, and those fields are still where our house-bred sun-grown strains come from.
Mango Cake grows indoors year-round in the same living soil, in reused raised beds under high-efficiency LEDs.
Both sides of the farm carry the FVOPA Certified Organic designation.
Living Soil Organic
Every GOOD BUDS plant grows in living soil: a biologically active bed of microbes, fungi and organic matter that we feed with compost and cover crops between cycles, then plant into again. Nothing is dumped after harvest.
We grow in communal raised beds rather than plastic pots. Roots share the same soil, and the biology in that soil has been building since our first beds went in.
Our farm is FVOPA Certified Organic, sun-grown fields and indoor rooms alike. Qualifying flower lots carry the FVOPA mark on the label.
Small-batch harvest, slow cure
We harvest every plant by hand and hang-dry it whole, on the stem, in small batches. Moisture leaves the flower slowly, which is the point.
Flower is machine-trimmed and hand-finished. Pre-rolls are hand-finished in unbleached papers. Every product is hand-packed and inspected before it ships.
Our vapes are made from the same certified organic harvest, extracted for us by an independent partner on Vancouver Island.
Ocean-grown on Salt Spring Island
Salt Spring Island sits in the Salish Sea, off the coast of British Columbia. The Pacific keeps our summers moderate and our fields in steady marine air, and the island has a long-standing organic farming culture that we grew up inside.
That is what ocean-grown means here: a place and a climate, not a slogan.
A Regenerative Family Farm
We till spent plants and cover crops back into the beds to rebuild organic matter and hold carbon in the soil. Everything is irrigated with rainwater we catch on site, and the field drains back into our lower pond so excess water is caught and reused.
We use no synthetic pesticides and no synthetic nutrients, so nothing we put on the farm runs off into local waterways.

Living soil cannabis is grown in a biologically active soil bed full of microbes, fungi and organic matter that is maintained and reused across growing cycles instead of being replaced after each harvest. At GOOD BUDS the beds are rebuilt with compost and cover crops between cycles and planted into again.
